AMD Llano The A-Series

“The serial and powerful parallel processing capability of the Llano APU has the potential to make OEMs and consumers re-think their computing experience,” said Chris Cloran, corporate vice president and general manager, client division, AMD. “The experience potential of Llano is truly incredible, and the demos we showed today on stage provide a glimpse of what this processor is capable of delivering in sleek form factors with long battery life. Everything consumers love about their digital lifestyles today – social networking, gaming, consuming and creating media – can be enhanced with Llano, enabling a more interactive, vivid and immersive experience.”

AMD is already shipping in the C-series (code-named Ontario) and the E-series (code-named Zacate) APUs is the new Fusion lineup, which includes multiple x86 cores and discrete graphics-level DirectX 11 in the same piece of silicon . But these two low power parts for smaller netbooks, ultra-thin laptops and as well as ultrathin notebooks.

The A-Series (codenamed Llano) on the other hand is targeted at mainstream laptops and desktops. Llano is the first AMD 32nm processor to remain an competitive step with Intel, which has been shipping 32nm chips from January 2010. Llano is also a more powerful processor than the current APUs, which is a competitor to be a lot of dual-core Core i3 (Sandy Bridge) processors on desktops and laptops, AMD has a separate desktop code name Zambezi with four, six, and eight core variants, that will competing head to head with fastest Intel Core i5 and Core i7.

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T review

AMD products are known for their stellar energy efficiency and the Phenom II X 6 1090T is no exception. The processor features AMD's proprietary PowerNow and CoolCare technology, which allow the processor to smartly regulate its own energy consumption. Having an energy-efficient computer doesn't just help keep costs down. it also generates less heat and helps your computer to run more quietly. It will even prolong your processor's life cycle, so you can enjoy it for years without having to worry about degradation.

Since the first generation Phenom, AMD started a new trend. They offer core processor more than his rival at the market price. Market approach seems effective enough to make AMD's "addiction". When hexa-core processor Intel's launch, we know that the alternative choice of AMD will also soon come out. Of course, these AMD products will be cheaper than Intel's products, considering the AMD's previous track record.

AMD Phenom II X6 launched to respond to market demand and fans. The emergence of competition is once again heat up with a rival who had first launched its six-core processors. Along with the launching of two variants of the Phenom II X6 1055T and 1090T, AMD also introduced a new chipset 890GX/FX to accompany Phenom II X6. The combination of Phenom II X6, 890GX/FX and Radeon HD 5000 series, produce a new platform called "Leo".

Although the Phenom II X6 1090T has a number of core as much as six pieces, the technology used in the processor core is not much different from the Phenom family II previously. Because the chip is still using the same architecture. So basically, AMD is only six core compress them into "shells" with Phenom X4 II. The similarity of this technology is also included TDP is the same as the owner of the fastest Phenom X4 II at 125 W. But the owners of the code name "thuban" It still came up with something new.

One of these technologies include AMD TurboCore. This is a technology to increase the processor speed in certain conditions that were implanted into the Phenom II X6. This technology is similar to Intel's Turbo Boost, it's just a different implementation. AMD TurboCore this work when three or more core processors are not used. When TurboCore is active, the active core processors gain extra speed by up to 500 MHz, while the other processor core speed idle down to 800 MHz.

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T positioned by AMD to replace the previous Phenom X4 II 965. With a lower speed of 200 MHz, armed with two extra core and TurboCore, Phenom II X6 1090T superior Phenom X4 II. Meanwhile, other technical specifications are no different, with 3 MB L2 cache (the size of core / core 512 KB) and 6 MB of L3 cache shared the six core.

As a result, almost any way you cut it, a six-core Phenom II X6 should be faster than the Phenom II X4. The only exception would be when taxing exactly four threads causes the processor to drop to 3.2 GHz, keeping it from benefiting from the fifth and sixth cores, while operating at a lower clock rate than the 3.4 GHz Phenom II X4 965.

Intel processor launch 10-core Xeon in half 2011

The recognized provider of chips, Intel has recently announced that the 10-core "Westmere-EX "Xeon is available before the end of the first half of 2011.

The chip will be the next successor to the fastest server processor from Intel, the Nehalem-EX which has eight cores, and was published in 2010.

Intel will use 32nm process technology to construct the 10-core "Westmere-EX" Xeon processor. It should be noted that the current chip Nehalem-EX is designed with the processing of 45-nm technology.

A spokesman for the chip manufacturer, said the next target high-end servers in data centers, large databases and other application needs.

The spokesman also said the systems Westmere EX chips is two socket supports up to 2 TB memory. new technologies help users update the server processors.

Meanwhile, Intel's main rival Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is preparing a new Bulldozer architecture-based 16-core (code-named Interlagos) start in the third quarter of this year.
